Ahmed Akbar Sobhan: Ahmed Akbar Sobhan is the chairman of Safwan Bashundhara Global and a prominent name in Bangladesh’s business sector. With a career spanning several decades, he has guided the development of a wide-ranging group of companies that continue to play a key role in the country’s economy. He was born on February 15, 1952, in Islampur, a well-known area in old Dhaka. As the youngest of six siblings, he was raised in a family where education, discipline, and public service were central values. His father was a lawyer at the Dhaka High Court. He later pursued a degree in Business Studies at the University of Dhaka, where he actively participated in both academics and extracurricular activities, including athletics. His business journey began in 1978 with involvement in the service sector. Around the same time, he also started exploring opportunities in domestic trading. These early experiences helped him gain practical knowledge and build the foundation for his future ventures. A significant step in his career was the founding of East West Property Development (Pvt) Ltd., which quickly earned a reputation in the real estate sector.
